Bolt(Taxify) announces plans to extend operations to other cities

Taxify, the leading European on demand transportation platform, on Thursday, April 18th, 2019, held a press meet and greet inside Bosphorus Restaurant in Accra.

The event was to interact and share with the media the reason for the re-branding from Taxify to Bolt, and also to share future plans including expansion to other cities.

The company, formerly Taxify, recently, re-branded and changed it’s name to Bolt, to bring the brand identity in line with the company’s broader vision of transportation that has already expanded from ride-hailing, with cars and motorbikes, to scooter sharing.

Speaking on why the company chose to make the change, Markus Villig, CEO and co-founder, Bolt said,

“Taxify launched five years ago with a mission to make urban transportation more convenient and affordable. Our first product was a taxi dispatch solution that gave the company its original name.”

Operations expert at Taxify, Albert, explaining why the company changed its name to Bolt, said that Bolt was to signify quick, fast and reliable transportation services to all their customers around the world.

He also added that aside the re-branding, the company plans to expand to other cities and also to add other forms of transportation, including motorcycles and electric scooters to their Taxis.

The future for transportation is electric and that is the direction in which Bolt is heading.
