Telecel Ghana Foundation’s HealthFest & Rural Ultrasound Initiatives Impacts Lives in Teacher Mante, Eastern Region

About 500 residents of Teacher Mante, a community in the Ayensuano district of the Eastern region, have received free extensive health screening as part of Telecel Ghana Foundation’s Healthfest and Rural Ultrasound initiatives in the area.

Healthfest, a comprehensive health screening programme which combines free medical screenings with health education, was held at the Teacher Mante D/A JHS. The screenings covered a wide range of health checks such as blood pressure, blood sugar, malaria, hepatitis B, HIV, typhoid, weight and general health consultations.

The Foundation also organised its free rural ultrasound initiative, which provides essential prenatal care to expectant mothers through ultrasound screenings and education on optimal nutrition for a healthy pregnancy.

Held simultaneously at the Teacher Mante Presby School, Telecel Ghana Foundation is helping reduce maternal and infant mortality rates by giving these mothers a fighting chance for healthy deliveries.

These health services are expected to play a crucial role in early diagnosis and treatment of potential health issues, allowing for timely medical interventions.

Telecel Ghana’s Head of Foundation, Sustainability and External Communications, Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, said “the Healthfest and Rural Ultrasound initiatives aim to provide essential healthcare services to people in underserved communities across Ghana and they are crucial for improving their health and wellbeing, especially expecting mothers. Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental human right and everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life.”

Telecel Ghana Foundation has committed to expanding its health initiatives to reach even more communities to address existing health disparities in rural regions of Ghana. Both health initiatives in Teacher Mante saw an influx of residents who took advantage of the comprehensive health services offered to check the full state of their health.

Through both health initiatives which form part of the telco foundation’s Connected Health programmes, Telecel Ghana Foundation facilitated the registration, replacement and renewal of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for 370 locals, 200 of which were children.

Telecel Ghana is leading positive change through the Foundation’s health screening and community support initiatives to improve the quality of lives of Ghanaians and communities.
