Speaking in an interview with Hitz FM  Accra on Wednesday, 7 August 2024, Baba Sadiq clarified that the act was not intended to influence voters’ perceptions, but rather to demonstrate his genuine connection with the local culture and people.

According to him, his actions were motivated by a desire to connect with the community and not for votes.

“Sometimes, when you go from house to house, you meet them. It’s just familiarity. You go to their house, you see her pounding, and you decide to help her. It wasn’t to attract anything,” he stated.

The entertainment analyst further disclosed that the viral images shared on social media were taken by his photographers, adding that he is unfazed by the ensuing criticism.

Sadiq emphasized that his primary concern lies with the reactions of the woman, her family, and other constituents, rather than the negative feedback online.

“It was funny. When you’re a politician and you know the realities, some of these comments don’t get to you. You just laugh about it and move on,” he added.
