Golf icon, Tiger Woods has completed a “successful” surgery on his ankle following his withdrawal from the Masters earlier this month, the 47-year-old announced Wednesday.

Despite acknowledging “constant” pain, the 15-time major champion made the cut at Augusta National, only to withdraw from the major before the third round of the rain-delayed
tournament could resume.

Tiger Woods revealed that the withdrawal was brought on by a recurrence of his plantar fasciitis, a tissue infection that produces discomfort on the bottom of the foot.
Woods was clearly having trouble walking during a bleak beginning to his round.

According to a tweet from Tiger Woods, the surgery at the HSS Sports Medicine Institute in New York City was judged to be “successful” by Dr. Martin O’Malley.
“Earlier today, Tiger Woods underwent a subtalar fusion procedure to address post-traumatic arthritis from his previous talus fracture.

“Tiger is currently recovering and looks forward to beginning his rehabilitation,” the statement said. A timetable for Woods’ return to competitive play was not provided in the statement.
Meanwhile, The next PGA Championship at Oak Hill in New York, the following major, is scheduled for May 18.

Since suffering severe leg injuries in a horrific car accident in 2021, the golf legend’s competitive appearances have been irregular, with Woods preferring competing in the
majors.

In 2022, his PGA Tour appearances were confined to The Masters, The PGA Championship, and The Open Championship. His 25th appearance at The Masters was only his second
competitive event of the year.
