| Critically acclaimed Atlanta-based artist Vayda has just announced the December 8threlease date for her forthcoming mixtape Forrest Gump. Along with the announcement, Vayda has also shared a new video single “hood zendaya”. As a key woman at the forefront of the new mash-up of internet sounds, Vayda embraces the DIY sound, pulling from genres like Jersey club and dance/electronic to create a wave of groovy, forward-thinking music that has already been championed by the likes of GRAMMY.com, The FADER, Pitchfork, AJC and Passion of the Weiss. With the majority of her songs clocking in well under two minutes, Vayda combines various elements of internet subgenres to create a sound that is free of regionality and instead embraces the chaotic, mash-up culture of the ever-changing music world. Backed by consistently lush production that usually comes complete with bouncy drums or ethereal synthlines, Vayda raps with an easy-flowing demeanor, diving into her most intimate thoughts with quirky wordplay. Her new single “hood zendaya” is a glimpse into her forthcoming mixtape Forrest Gump – out 12/8 with features from Nedarb, Noah Salem and Rxlvnd. “Shake it up bitch, like Bella Thorne / I’m feeling euphoria, lil bitch, call me Zendaya / These drugs got my feelings gone“, Vayda raps over the distorted, ethereal beat, using the niche pop culture references to make comparisons to the state of her career and mindset.
