We have settled our fines, but Afia Shwar will spend some days in jail- Nana Ama McBrown

Ghanaian actress and television personality, Nana Ama McBrown has opened up on the court case involving her, Afia Schwarzenegger, A-plus and Mr Logic.

On Thursday, 30th November, the Tema High Court reportedly issued a bench warrant for contempt against Afia Schwarzenegger and Mr Logic; Nana Ama McBrown, Fadda Dickson, the Managing Director of Despite Media and the show’s Executive Producer, and A Plus, are reported to have also been fined GH$60,000 each.

The group are reported to have made comments on the United Showbiz Show hosted by Nana Ama McBrown regarding the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi.

Speaking on the events surrounding the case on last Saturday’s edition of the show, Nana Ama McBrown revealed they had settled their fines and had learnt from their mistakes.

“It happened that UTV that is the company, represented by Father Dickson was discharged from the case so it was, me, Kwame Aplus and Logic; those that host this show (United Showbiz) we got a fine and it happened that as when the fine came, by the Grace of God we were able to pay. I was charged GHc60,000, Aplus was charged Ghc60,000 and Logic GHc60,000 and that was given to the court. Then Ghc5,000 was paid to the lawyer representing the other side,” she explained.

She continued; “It’s not the paying that was the issue. It was a learning experience”.

A Plus however, disagreed with McBrown’s comments stating that he hadn’t learnt anything from the experience.

“Me, I haven’t learnt anything, I will make an appeal,” Aplus interjected.

McBrown also revealed Father Dickson was not charged, despite reports that he was.

“Dr. Father Dickson didn’t pay anything; he did not go to jail. The three of us (Aplus, Logic and her) were the only ones charged with a fine”

On Afia Schwarzenegger, McBrown revealed the judge was insistent that she spends sometime in jail.

“We cannot say that we are happy with what happened to Afia Schwarzenegger but that is the law. The judge said she has to go to jail for ten days,” she added.
