Wiz Khalifa charged with illegal drug possession in Romania

Wiz Khalifa was arrested on illegal drug possession charges after smoking marijuana during his set on Saturday night (July 13) at the Beach, Please! Festival in Romania.

On Sunday morning (July 14), Variety reported that the rapper was taken into custody after authorities found 18 grams of marijuana on his person following him smoking on stage. Romanian prosecutors released the following statement on the arrest:

“The prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Constanța Territorial Service ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against a defendant (US citizen), investigated for the crime of unlawful possession of drugs risk.”

The press release also reads: “During a recital held during a music festival held in the resort of Costinești, Constanța county, [Khalifa] possessed over 18 grams of cannabis (risk drug) and consumed (on stage) another amount of cannabis under the shape of a craft cigarette.”

The 36-year-old rap star headlined Saturday’s lineup with a setlist filled with hit songs such as “Black & Yellow,” “See You Again,” and “We Dem Boys.” Khalifa, real name Cameron Taylor, was questioned, charged, then released from custody on Sunday.

The Beach, Please! Festival was held on July 10-14 in Costinești, Romania. Along with Wiz Khalifa, this year’s lineup included Travis Scott, Rick Ross, Ice Spice, Yeat, Chief Keef, Don Toliver, French Montana, and so many more.

Throughout his 17-year career, Wiz Khalifa’s image is closely connected to marijuana. In January, he revealed that he had attended his son’s parent-teacher conferences high in the past.
