<![CDATA[With a 70- 85 percent success rate in predicting winners for the last 5 Ghana Music Awards I think this year may be a bit ‘harder’ to predict. But I will use my ‘expertise’ as much as possible and surely I won’t be far from the announcements that would be made tonight. Here it goes! The Artist of the year award, for me must go the the artist or group that had the most number of hits and generated the most public appeal with the music and not necessarily performances. I believe that less that 10 percent of Ghanaians get to see musicians perform in the year and so it’s only right to judge artist purely on the work and not craft in this category. With that said, I will narrow the race to R2bees and D-Black but I think R2bees did enough to pick this one up. When it comes to Vodafone Song Of The Year, I am torn between my personal favourite songs ‘Bye Bye’ by Asem & Kwabena and songs that were also very popular. The best song in this category for is ‘Bye Bye’ but when it comes to very popular songs, I will narrow it to include Vera by D-Black, Aluguntugui by Keche and Zaphanat Panea by Nicholas Omane Acheampong. Based purely on popularity I would say that Keche might pick this. I would narrow Best Collaboration Of The Year to Bye-Bye – Asem & Kwabena Kwabena, Azonto Fiesta – Appietus, Sarkodie & Kesse and Sika – Okyeame Kwame & Kesse. But I I think Asem and kwabena Kwabena will knick this one Based on popularity, I will narrow Hip Hop Song Of The Year to Heyba – Edem, Pizza & Burger – Sarkodie & Jayso and Bayla – R2Bees. And I think Sakodie & Jayso may pick this one up. Hip Life Song Of The Year is also very competitive and I will narrow it to KaaluE.L., Life (Walahi) – R2Bees, Aluguntugui- Keche, Vera – D-Black Ft Joey B, Bye-Bye – Asem Ft Kwabena Kwabena. But I have a feeling that whoever wins the Song of The Year will not win this, so since I picked Keche for song of the year I would pick Asem and Kwabena Kwabena for this. Gospel Artiste Of The Year I think is between Herty Bongreat, Nicholas Omane Acheampong and Cwesi Oteng. Although, Herty had some hits with the hiplife acts I think Nicholas Acheampong may steal this from her. Afro Pop Song Of The Year I think is between Best In Me – Efya and Atenna – Fuse ODG. Fuse I think will knick this. Hip Life/Hip Hop Artiste Of The Year I think is between R2Bees, D-Black and E.L. but I would give this one to E.L Gospel Song Of The Year I think would go to Zaphanat Panea – Nicholas Omane Acheampong African Artiste Of The Year I think will go to Wizkid Best Group Of The Year I think will go to R2Bees Highlife Song Of The Year for me is between my favourites Odo – R2Bees, Love Of My Life – Afriyie Wutah, and Lovi Dovi – Raquel. If I’m pushed to pick I would say Afriyie would pick this one since his song doesn’t include rap. Highlife Artiste Of The Year is between Afriyie and Kesse I think. Kesse had more visility in the year so may pick this one up. New Artiste Of The Year for me is Kaakie Reggae Dance Hall Song Of The Year I think is between Go Go Wild – Eazzy Ft Jupiter, House Of Pain – Knii Lante and Toffee Pon Tongue – Kaakie. Though Kaakie stands out I think Knii Lante will knick this. Time Bomb – Samini Ft Wizkid Album Of The Year for me will be between Something Else – E.L., Mr. Versatile – Okyeame Kwame and Solid Ground – Asem. Since it’s not a very public category I think Okyeame Kwame will pick this. Best Male Vocal Performance will be a close race between Mugeez (R2Bees) – Odo, Kwabena Kwabena – Bye-Bye, Knii Lante – House Of Pain, Afriyie – Love Of My Life. Since Mugeez is the only one who hasn’t won this award before I wish he picks it but my guts tell me Kwabena Kwabena may pick it again. Best Female Vocal Performance I think will be between Raquel – Lovi Dovi Efya – Best In Me and Yaa Yaa – Kae. I have I feeling this could be raquel’s first VGMA. Best Rapper I think is between Sarkodie – Azonto Fiesta, E.L. – Kaalu, Edem – Heyba and M.anifest. Sarkodie may knick this one. ]]>
