A trending video of three policemen assaulting an Uber driver surfaced over the weekend and left many wondering what actually sparked the actions of the security personnel. Taking to Twitter to narrate the ordeal, a passenger in the attacked driver’s car indicate the driver was on the wrong side of the law as he tried overtaking other cars on the road.

The attack which happened on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Sowutuom, a suburb in Accra saw  the three police officers trying to arrest the driver of a blue Suzuki Alto. The “well-built” driver, who tried to resist the arrest, was dragged out of his car by the officers, leading to a fracas between them.

The witness who uses the handle @Belalynch took to comment under a post of the video explaining how they pleaded with the driver to stop his unlawless act but turned a deaf ear only to have the police attack him with pepper spray, hefty slaps, and kicks to subdue him and eventually cuffed him to the police station.
