Activities for the inaugural This Is New Africa (TINA) Festival have kicked off with National Builders Day, which saw Fuse ODG visiting his school for orphans, with his celebrity friends from the UK.
The group included rapper/singer Stefflon Don, British actor, television presenter and radio DJ Reggie Yates, British DJ, producer and presenter Manny Norte, British singer/songwriter Raye, Instagram activist and founder of ‘SpartanFam’, Chaka Clarke (alias Chake Bars); as well as presenter/DJ Link Daddy.
The team together with a team of dedicated volunteers spent time painting the school in Akosombo supported by #wewillrizetogether a group initiative started in August 2017 to build this school in Ghana and refurbish a school in Jamaica. Join our efforts by making a contribution to www.gofundme.com/wewillrizetogether.
In 2007, This Is New Africa (TINA) and Wood World Mission Charity started a school in Akusombo with just a handful of students. What began as an Orphanage is now a thriving school with over 200 students being supported by the organisation.
National Builders day was to encourage the diaspora community to give back to society. The Volunteers were at Akosombo School to paint the school and interact with the pupils and inspire them.
There was also an exciting boat ride and tour of the beautiful Akosombo landscape fused with party in the bus and lots of networking.
