2020 was a year of extravagant weddings that had the whole nation and even Africa talking. From #KENCY2020 to #MEDIFELLA2020 here are all the top weddings which happened in Ghana.

The year 2020 has been a very eventful one for some of our celebrities who got married to their heartthrobs.

All the pomp and pageantry that trail celebrity weddings kept us hooked on some of them as we faithfully kept watch for the latest photos from their nuptials while others kept things low key and private. Others tried to hide it from the public until the last minute— but became much bigger and most talked about as expected.

Though, one thing all these weddings had in common was the abundant show of love between the brides and their grooms. We couldn’t help but be glad that these celebrities have found and settled with their better halves.

KENNEDY OSEI and TRACY #KENCY2020

When Despite Media Group’s CEO Kennedy Osei married his girlfriend Tracy Ameyaw on 13th Febuary 2020, the whole nation was glued to what was dubbed “Wedding Of The Year”

Gospel singer Joe Mettle and his beautiful wife Salomey Selassie Dzisa completed their nuptials with a white wedding ceremony at the Christian Centre Assemblies of God Church at Tema Community 12, on Saturday.

MEDIKAL AND FELA MAKAFUI #MEDIFELA2020

On March 7th, 2020, Ghanaian rapper Medikal and actress Fella Makafui’s wedding had the whole nation talking. Guest at the traditional wedding included Shatta Wale, Sista Afia, Freda Rhymz, Criss Waddle among others.

The nuptial between Akusika Akuffo and Brian Bekoe on 11th January 2020 was a lay-low but the classiest and richest wedding which kicked the year off.

Content curator Aku-sika Akuffo is an LSE trained lawyer, she is a barrister of both Lincoln’s Inn in the UK and the Ghana Bar. Her dad is one of the bigwigs in the NDC party. Mr. Steve Akuffo and Mother is Jaqueline Akuffo also known as Maa an entrepreneur.

Her family cuts across the fine lines of the two main political parties in Ghana. The NDC and NPP.It is not a surprise that her wedding had guests from both the political divide.

KYEIWAA’S US WEDDING

Actress Rose Mensah, popularly known as Kyeiwaa followed her January 2020 court wedding to Micheal Kissi Asare in the United States of America, with a white wedding ceremony on 25th July 2020.

The white wedding follows the traditional wedding which happened recently in Worcester, Massachusetts.

KAAKIE’S WEDDING

Grace Kaki Awo Ocansey popularly known as Kaakie got married in a beautiful traditional wedding ceremony to  Kwesi “Spider” on Thursday, January 3rd, 2020. The ceremony took place in Manet Ville.

NDC’s Chief Biney and  NPP’s Afia Akoto

The National Democratic Congress Deputy National Organizer, Chief Hamilton Biney married Maame Afia Akoto the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the MASLOC under

the current Akufo-Addo government in February. The wedding which was largely tagged “NDC Marries NPP” had social media users talking.

Xandy Kamel and Kaninja

Actress Xandy Kamel tied the knot to sports presenter, King Kaninja of Angel TV in May.

Daughter of Ghanaian business mogul, Cindy Ofori Sarpong has finally become Mrs. Peprah after tying the knot with her love, Richard Peprah.

The two followed their extravagant traditional marriage with a star-studded white wedding. The church wedding came off on Saturday, October 10, 2020, and followed it with a reception at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra.

NANA ASANTED BEDIATUO AND SARAH ADETOLA

Secretary to the President of Ghana, Nana Asante Bediatuo tied the knot with his sweetheart Sarah Mary Olufemi Adetola, in a plush traditional wedding on Saturday.

The wedding was strictly by invitation. It was held at the St Francis Cottage, Anoff-Nsawam in the Eastern Region.

Davido To Headline Second Annual Tribeville Featuring Wande Coal, Young John & More

Tribeville returns to The Lawn at White Oak Music Hall in Houston, Texas on Friday, July 5 for its second annual edition. Headlined by Afrobeats king Davido, the music festival from acclaimed event promoter and production company Duke Concept is a celebration of Black music from around the world united under one tribe.

In addition to Davido’s headlining performance, Tribeville will host fellow Nigerian acts Wande Coal and Young John, Grenadian singer V’ghn, Trinidadian soca artist Preedy, Nigerian singer-songwriter Chike, Afrorap act Bils, Alté group The Compozers, and South African rapper Focalistic, along with DJ sets by Skyla Tylaa, Babygirl The DJ, DJ Mobu, DJ Obi & DJ Big N, and many more.

Tribeville launched its inaugural edition in April 2023 with a lineup featuring Adekunle Gold, Oxlade, Victony, Libianca, and more. Returning this year, Tribeville follows Duke Concept’s first-ever all-Ghanaian music festival Rolling Cocoa in Washington, D.C. and Davido’s monumental headline stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Burna Boy cancels Netherlands concert, promises tickets refund

Burna Boy Breaks Several Milestones on Apple Music

The highly anticipated concert by Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy, slated for June 9th at the Johan Cruyff Arena Stadium in the Netherlands, has been called off.

Burna Boy personally relayed the disappointing news via his Instagram account, citing the event organizers’ failure to uphold their part of the agreement as the reason behind the cancellation.

Expressing his regret over the situation, Burna Boy assured fans that ticket holders would receive full refunds directly from their original point of purchase within the next 30 days.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, May, 2, 2024 the ‘On the low’ hitmaker emphasized the importance of fulfilling contractual obligations and thanked his fans for their support, signing off with a message of love and anticipation for future gatherings.

“We regret to inform you that due to a failure by the event organisers to meet their contracted obligations, Burna Boy’s concert at the stadium on June 9th 2024 has been cancelled.

“All ticket buyers will be refunded from the point of purchase within 30 days. Love you and see you soon,” he wrote.
