Tarrus Riley to Release New Music “Heartbreak Anniversary!’
Reggae star Tarrus Riley adds to his list of noteworthy releases with his cover of “Heartbreak Anniversary.” The release gives Reggae presence to the popular original by R&B singer Giveon.
Slated for release on Thursday July 1st, 2021, the Reggae version of “Heartbreak Anniversary” was produced by Kareem Burrell and Dean Fraser for XTM Nation. The smash hit contemporary R&B song is currently tracking at 375 million streams on Spotify and showcases Riley’s love for singing melodies. The music video was filmed in Kingston with creative direction from Remus and video director African Kid; production by Romeich Entertainment.
Anticipation is high for the song as Riley’s history with reggae versions and ballads include classic hits like “Superman,” “Human Nature,” “Stay With You,” and “She’s Royal.” Fostering his signature sound, “Heartbreak Anniversary” showcases the artists musicianship with the songs rootsy-Reggae vibe that adds a slight Lover’s Rock feel.
About the track, Kareen Burrell is quoted as saying “It’s always an incredible experience working with Tarrus Riley as well as working collaboratively with Dean Fraser. This production just came from Singy casually saying “Reems’ that tune ya bad, we coulda lovers rock it easily.” Early feedback from fans who have heard the singer’s acapella version on Instagram suggests he has hit all the right notes. For one fan “heartbreak sounds good!”
To compliment the release of “Heartbreak Anniversary,” Tarrus and his team conceptiualized and shot a crispy video set to be released on Friday, July 2nd. The well-produced visual sees Riley serenade a group of female fans in the cool hills of St Andrew, at Kingston Dub Club. It begins with a narrative that isn’t very far from the actual story of the song, and then blossoms into a mini video concert with an all-female audience.
