Popular Ghanaian female rapper and singer, Ruth Eno Adjoa Amankwa Adom, known professionally by her stage name Eno Barony, has expressed her disappointment and shock at not being nominated in this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Speaking in an interview with Doreen Avio on Hitz FM’s Daybreak show on Friday March 24, 2023, the rap goddess disclosed that she submitted two of her songs in the year under review namely ‘Don’t Judge Me’ and ‘Finish Line’ for consideration but with the tough competition in the awards scheme, her songs did not make the final cut.

Although Eno Barony wishes she scored herself some nominations, she states that the awards do not define her.

“Awards don’t define me; Eno will still be Eno. It hurts because I have worked and I deserve to be recognised but in all, we work harder.”

She further emphasized that her songs have done very well in the year under review. ‘‘Check the online charts, my songs have topped almost everywhere,” she stated.

The ‘God is a woman’ hitmaker bantered that perhaps the title of her song ‘Don’t Judge Me’ played a role in her snub. She explained that “I said they shouldn’t judge me, and they didn’t, so they took me out.”

The 24th VGMA nominees were released on Saturday, March 19,2023 with the likes of Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, King Promise, Camidoh, Piesie Esther and Joe Mettle in the run for Artiste of the Year award amongst many other categories.

The Main event comes off on May 13, at the Grand Arena of the Accra international Conference Center.
