Adele is mourning the loss of her dad.

The singer’s estranged father, Mark Evans, has died at 57 after a long battle with bowel cancer.

“Mark’s family are of course very upset by his passing. He always hoped things would work out with Adele, but it remained acrimonious to the end,” said a source. “He made a few attempts to make things right, but clearly it had been too long.”

Their relationship deteriorated throughout the years. In 2013, Evans revealed that he was battling cancer and feared he would never meet his grandson, Angelo. He later claimed that he and Adele reconciled, however, she would counter this during a speech at the 2017 Grammys.

In 2011, Evans spoke about his relationship with his daughter and struggle with alcoholism. “I was a rotten father at a time when she really needed me,” he told The Sun. “I was deeply ashamed of what I’d become and I knew the kindest thing I could do for Adele was to make sure she never saw me in that state.”

Despite their fallout, sources said Adele will still be upset by his death. “I don’t hate him — he’s my dad,” she once said.
