<![CDATA[The organisers of Africa Fashion Week London and Côte d’Ivoire Fashion Week are pleased to announce a new partnership which aims to see both fashion weeks working together to promote African fashion. Now in its second year, Côte d’Ivoire Fashion Week is set to take place on 20- 23 December 2012 at the Historic City of Grand Bassam (National Costume Museum) in Abidjan under the theme “Ivorian Textile Products on the American Market”. Having successfully concluded its second edition on 4-5 August 2012 at London Spitalfields which saw over 20,000 guests attend the shows and exhibitions over two days, Africa Fashion Week London is currently preparing for its third edition in August 2013. The organisers of both fashion weeks will work together to promote both fashion platforms and support Ivory Coast designers to showcase at Africa Fashion Week London 2013 to provide them with an international platform. “AFWL’s aim is to promote emerging and established African designers and African inspired designers from across the globe which is what we intend to do with our partnership with Côte d’Ivoire Fashion Week,” said founder and CEO of Africa Fashion Week London about the partnership. Founder and CEO of Côte d’Ivoire Fashion Week and World Fashion Organization Ivory Coast National Chapter chief representative Coulibaly Severin added, “London is one of the most important fashion capitals around the world. It is a great honour for us and the African Continent to have a professional international platform to promote African Fashion industry actors, African heritage, African values, African textiles through Africa Fashion Week London. As Côte d’Ivoire Fashion Week takes place in Abidjan, a city considered as the cultural crossroads in West Africa, we have to contribute to the success of this project and consider Africa Fashion Week London as a part of ourselves. So it is like a bridge for Ivorian Fashion Industry Actors to access the European Market and the Londoner and international fashion industry actors can consider Côte d’Ivoire Fashion Week as their House too.”

The partnership will see both fashion weeks working together closely to promote African and African-inspired design talent on al their platforms, both in the lead up to Côte d’Ivoire Fashion Week this December and towards the third edition of Africa Fashion Week London in August 2013.
