Akwaboah Set To Release Black Stars Song

Ahead of Ghana’s participation in the FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup, Highlife and Afrosound sensation Akwaboah is preparing to release a specially themed song for Team Ghana in support of the Black Stars.

The song titled “Bring Back the Love” seeks to engage football fans all over the world in support of Ghana’s 4th appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2022. It rides on nostalgia, love and affection and the rhythmic tunes will surely galvanize many behind Team Ghana.

Ahead of the digital release on Friday 16th September 2022, fans have already gotten a 15 second preview of the song, and if that is anything to go by then this song is surely going to be a big fan favourite ahead of the World Cup and beyond.

Some celebrities such as Kofi Kinaata and Fameye have already taken to social media to throw their support behind “Bring back the love” which has created a trend where people post videos of themselves trying out football tricks using the #bringbackthelove.

The Black stars of Ghana continue with their World Cup preparations with a friendly against Brazil later this month on 23rd September.

Highlife sensation Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jr known by his stage name Akwaboah is Ghanaian Singer-Songwriter, Producer and Performer. He is the son of the legendary Highlife musician Kwadwo Akwaboah and grandson of the legendary Highlife musician Kwabena Akwaboah.

Akwaboah is an extraordinary keyboardist who famously started writing songs at the age of 10 and has worked as Producer, Writer or Sound Engineer with many widely recognized acts like Hugh Masekela, Sarkodie, Becca, Efya and many more.

His genre of music is rooted in Ghanaian Highlife music with fusions of Afro Soul, Afro Pop and Afrobeats. When it comes to love songs nobody does it better than Akwaboah.

Akwaboah’s songwriting skills earned him Songwriter of The Year at the 2010 Ghana Music Awards for ‘Daa ke Daa’ a song he wrote for Becca. He also wrote ‘Ayeyi Ndwom’ for DSP Kofi Sarpong which won Gospel Song of The Year at the Ghana Music Awards in 2010.

Akwaboah also wrote Best in Me for Efya which won Record of The Year and Best Vocal Performance at the 2013 Ghana Music Awards.

He also showcased his production talents by writing and producing Sarkodie’s critically acclaimed “Mary” Album in 2015, going on to release his debut album “Matter of the heart” in 2018.

Lighthouse EP released in December 2021 is Akwaboah’s sophomore album and showcases Akwaboah as a singer–songwriter, producer and performer. The album is an eclectic collection of Highlife, Afrobeats and AfroSoul – a truly timeless musical masterpiece.

Songs on the Lighthouse EP like Ensesa, Wopɛ W’adiɛ and Obiaa have been streamed millions of times across digital platforms and spent time as number one songs on YouTube in Ghana. This culminated in Akwaboah being crowned the Highlife Artist of the year at the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards
