Andre Ayew breaks silence after penalty miss

Black Stars Captain, Andre Ayew has spoken up after his penalty miss at the FIFA 2022 World Cup Tournament.

On Friday, December, 2nd, Ghana faced Uruguay in the last group H game in the ongoing FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Just a few minutes into the game, Ghana conceded a penalty which was taken by Andre, however, he missed out on giving Ghana the lead after missing out on the penalty shoot.

Scores of football fans in the country have since vilified him, and his brother Jordan Ayew for performing poorly on the World Cup stage.

In an Instagram post after the team was kicked out of the competition, Andre expressed his disappointment at their final group match.

“Our final group match result was not what we were looking forward to in the tournament, but unfortunately it ended up this way,” he wrote.

Although they failed to progress to the round of 16, Andre says he’s proud of his teammates.

”I am very, very proud of all my teammates for putting up a wonderful team spirit on and off the pitch, for our country Ghana.”

Earlier on, it was reported that Andre’s seven-year-old daughter had collapsed on the field after he missed the penalty. He confirmed it in his post.

“Personally, it has been very difficult moments for me in the past few days. I lost my godson the morning before the Portugal game, and my daughter was also rushed to the hospital after the Uruguay. Thanks to the Almighty Allah, she’s getting better.”

Andre says the difficult moments will inspire him to be better in the future.

“This difficult moments will inspire me to come back stronger and better in the future, and so I believe, will the Black Stars.

In our true Ghanaian spirits, WE WILL NEVER SAY DIE, UNTIL THE BONES ARE ROTTEN, WO KUM APEM A, APEM BEBA,” he added.
