<![CDATA[I must be one of the few people that find it hard to believe that Dbanj and Don Jazzy have indeed parted ways after so many years of hits together just because of an interview Dbanj granted to Ebony Magazine music journalist, Hillary Crosley after his concert in New York . With an ongoing speculation about D’banj and longtime collaborator and business partner Don Jazzy‘s supposedly strained relationship, when it was reported in the interview Dbanj claimed to be the owner of Mo’Hits Records, it certainly fueled the fire. Earlier reports suggested that the Ebony interview published on March 12 read: “Coming from Africa I’m my own manager, I have my own label called Mo’ Hits with my artists Dr. Sid, Wande Coal, Don Jazzy, D’Prince and K-Switch. I own Mo’ Hits and we’ve won numerous awards by the grace of God. Being with Kanye for the last eight months and me leading a successful label in Africa, I’ve learned a lot and I believe people will see what we’re going to do.” According to reports the editors of Ebony had edit the feature following a tip off and thus it now reads: “Coming from Africa, I’m my own manager, I co-own a label called Mo’ Hits with Don Jazzy and we represent artists Dr. Sid, Wande Coal, D’Prince and K-Switch. I own Mo’ Hits and we’ve won numerous awards by the grace of God. Being with Kanye for the last eight months and me leading a successful label in Africa, I’ve learned a lot and I believe people will see what we’re going to do. I signed with Kanye in June and that same month I won the BET Award for Best International Act”. Read Full Interview I only saw the interview recently so cannot confirm if any changes have been made. On Saturday, Don Jazzy who had been unusually quiet on twitter broke the silence with some tweets which confirmed in the minds of many fans that indeed he has parted ways with Dbanj. He wrote: “Good day friends. So sorry i have been away for long as i have been going through some changes in my life.” “It is with a heavy heart that i announce the end of a long Era and the beginning of a new One” “Some of the Rumours U have all heard recently re sad but true.” “The way forward now is to make sure i keep bringing you guys more of the beautiful music y’all love to dance to.” “And to end d old era i will b donating d proceeds of my production catalogue from day 1 till date to 5 charity organizations. Thanks. IDJA” I think Dbanj and Don Jazzy are cooking up something, and this supposed feud is just going to hype it. The pair know how to spin the media in their favour and I won’t be surprised if on April 1 they pull out and April Fool’s joke on us all. Both of them signed on to Kanye West’s Good Music label last year; wouldn’t you say that’s the beginning of a new era for the pair? Perhaps that is the era Don Jazzy tweeted about! Think again..lol!]]>
