As part of their contribution in the fight against addressing the challenges facing the environment, Marketing Bees Network (MBN) and Event Galore Ltd. in collaboration with the Ministries of Environment, Science, and Technology, Land and Natural resources, Environmental Protection Agency, Wild life Division and Society, Parks and Gardens are organizing for the first time and subsequently annually, ‘Miss Earth Ghana’.

The executive director of Marketing Bees Network, Chi Onuaha revealed that contestants would be sourced from tertiary institutions throughout the country adding that participants must be passionate on the issue of the environment. He revealed that auditions would take place in January 2012 with selected contestants being camped for three weeks during which a lot of activities including tree planting, environmental talks in schools, fashion shows and sponsored visits.These activities will be interspersed with social activities such as fashion shows, Sponsors’ visits, and fun activities. These will culminate into the grand finale, which would possibly be held in Kumasi.

The winner of Miss Earth Ghana 2012 pageant will represent Ghana at the next edition of Miss Earth World, which would be held in Manila, The Philippines. Miss Earth World pageant is to ensure that its contestants and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of the earth.

The pageant also helps to promote diverse tourist destinations throughout the world as it emphasizes the need to sustain the environment through the winner of the pageant, who becomes an ambassador to environmental campaigns worldwide.
