<![CDATA[Patrons of Citi FM‘s maiden fashion show, Expressions of Accra- Threads of time, after being treated to a unique showcase of fashion, style and elegant couture spanning over 5 decades, have hailed the designs for future as “a true trend setter”. Some of the patrons who spoke to citifmonline.com after the event which came off at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Saturday, indicated that they were excited by the prospects of the fashion industry in Ghana with one noting that “i didn’t know there were so many young designers in Ghana. ‘Expressions of Accra – The Threads of Time’ sought to, through the use of local fabric and prints, tell the story of Accra in its past, its present and took a peak into the future. Recognizing Accra as an ever evolving centre of urbanization, the fashion show captured the high points of various eras through the very artistic medium of fashion. At the heart of the event however was the raising of funds for the completion of a skills resource training centre for orphans at the Baptist Schools Complex and Orpahanage (BASCO) in Suhum. With patronage being drawn from the ‘who-is-who’ in the world of fashion, industry, commerce and even religion, the event was electrifying at numerous stages with one of them being the cat-walking of some of Ghana’s finest A-list celebrities. They included Qwesi Oteng, Asem, Irene Logan and the legendary Mike Eghan. For over two hours, designs from Karlren, Jacqui Johnson Couture Solutions, Afromod trends, Msimps, Sa4a, Elikem The Tailor, Fannyann Clothing, Bath Industries, Ds Clothing, Dom 21, Kabengo, Dei D’zines and Ashnoor, kept the crowd glued to their seats in admiration. Showcasing the best from the 50’s through the 70’s, to the 2000’s and even to the future, the event managed to weave a seamless web to link the various phases of Ghana’s fashion scene. From casuals, to suits, to accessories and so much more, it was evident, by the numerous camera clicks, that the designers had done a fantastic job. The bonus on the night was arguably having some children model some of the clothes. Through pledge forms taken on the night however, it was refreshing to see that patrons were truly in support of the construction of the skills resource training center at Baptist School Complex and Orphanage (BASCO) in Suhum by the Citi FM Foundation. The night was appropriately spiced up with some comedy from Hogan from Nigeria who had everyone laughing from his from word. Chief Moomen, Nana Korantema and Nana Asaase, dazzled the crowd with their poetic and spoken word gifts. Dzajeloi, Bessa Simmons and a new artist known as 247 made the evening a truly memorable one with great music. All proceeds from the show would go to support the Citi FM Foundation to complete the project. The event was sponsored by GTP and Ghana Commercial Bank with support from 2nd Image. The media partners were Etv, B&FT, FAB Magazine, Agoo Magazine, The Weekend Finderand Daily Guide ]]>
