Ghana Film Foundation (GFF) officially launches its first annual short film script competition.

From June 7 – July 7, 2021, GFF will be accepting script submissions from emerging and experienced writers and filmmakers in Ghana. This competition provides an opportunity for writers to have their script ideas supported through the development stages until final production. The winner selected will receive GH₵ 4000 and have their project financed and produced into a film. The runner-up will receive GH₵ 2000 as well as development support in producing their film.

“A kid in a remote village in Ghana could be as talented as a kid in America,” says Nana Yaw Yeboah, Director and Founder of Ghana Film Foundation. “How far and how great these two kids make it in life depends heavily on what opportunities they have.” Yeboah says that he is using this competition to support young talent who may not have the resources to put their ideas into a full production. “You are only as good as the opportunities you get in life. We have the talents; we need to create theopportunities. So, I’m helping in my own small way to create opportunities for those who need it.”

Creative industry judges will be selected to review all scripts submitted in the competition. Script submissions will be accepted beginning June 7, 2021, at 12:00AM GMT and submissions close at 11:59PM GMT July 7, 2021. All scripts must be submitted through the website, www.ghanafilmfoundation.com. Rules and regulations for entering the competition are available on the website and questions can be sent via email to ghanafilmfoundation@yahoo.com.

We encourage all Ghanaian aspiring filmmakers and writers to take advantage of this opportunity to have their film ideas produced. This competition is open only to Ghanaian citizens and residents.
