WATCH: I got paralysed at an early age from an injection against fever – Francis Kumah

The survival instincts of man always remain intact; irrespective of the odds and the unpleasantries of life.

Benabi Discovery, a humanitarian advocacy organization, as part of its mandate, placed a spotlight on Francis Kumah, a disabled Cobbler making a living in Accra.

Francis, a 43years old man comes from Koforidua in the Eastern region of Ghana.

Narrating his story, Francis wasn’t born disabled but got paralyzed some decades ago after taking an injection against fever, which perhaps didn’t go well.

It’s been difficult raising income in the village, as a result, Francis with the help of his elderly sister proceeded to Accra.

Regardless of his condition, Francis has been working as a shoemaker in Accra, which earns him an average income of Ten to fifteen Ghana Cedis by the close of the day.

Having no helper to support his dreams, Francis, a staunch believer with the SDA Church, initially had pieces of equipment he could use to manufacture shoes, but all got spoilt along the line, hence his resolve to be a “cobbler”.

The determined disabled is however anticipating help from NGOs or some philanthropists, to enable him realized his full potential as his business receives some phase lifting.

After closing of work, Francis will retire to bed whiles staying glued to his television set, his only “companion”.
