‘I nearly quit making music’ – Fancy Gadam explains why 2018 was a bad year for him

Fancy Gadam nominated for International Reggae and world Music Awards

Tamale-based musician, Fancy Gadam has revealed why he almost gave up on his passion for music last year. The Gadam Nation boss says he was heavily affected by the death of four of his fans just before his big annual concert last year.

The fans were reportedly caught in a collision between an articulated truck headed for Tamale from Savelugu and a Zylofone Media van and Fancy Gadam said he was so devastated that he thought of quitting music for good.

Speaking to Sammy Flex on Showbiz Agenda on Zylofon FM yesterday, the ‘TOTAL CHEAT’ said: “I was too young to go through this and I decided to call it quits. For four people to die just because of me was too much for me to handle. I didn’t want to have anything to do with music because I couldn’t stand losing another fan again,”

Fancy Gadam explained that had it not been for his fans who kept giving him pressure to come back and he would have said goodbye to music in 2018.

He explained that he felt terrible when some of his fans believed rumors on social media that he was a ritualist.

“Some of the fans actually called me to find out whether I was using them for rituals to be popular but I told them it was all false. The calls from my fans were becoming too much and I had to respond to them and that is the reason why I am back to do music again.”

Talking about his alleged beef with his Tamale-based rival Macassio, Fancy Gadam said he didn’t have time for him because he is too busy to seek cheap hype. “Any artist who mostly rides on controversy to be popular is cheap,” he said.

Fancy Gadam is currently on a media tour promoting new singles on his upcoming album.  “As we talk now my album, which features Kofi Mole, Kwesi Arthur, Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata, and Patoranking is ready and I am planning a big launch for this album,” he said.
