It’s All Here: 2022 FIFA World Cup returns bigger and better on DStv & GOtv

MultiChoice Ghana officially unveiled its offering for the biggest and most revered football tournament, the 2022 World Cup at an event held at the iconic Independence Arch in Accra this weekend.

This SuperSport campaign is geared toward amplifying the feeling and excitement of the fans dubbed “It’s All Here” will see fans and footballers enjoy the one of the most sought-after football events.
Addressing guests at the launch, Alex Okyere, the Managing Director of MultiChoice Ghana announced that SuperSport on DStv and GOtv will offer customers a front row seat to the 2022 World Cup games.

He added “At MultiChoice, we pride ourselves in knowing that we are the official broadcasters partners of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and the best stadium for fans who will not be able to visit Qatar as we will air all 64 games of the tournament. Thus, he encouraged potential customers to purchase a DStv or GOtv decoder so that no one is left behind in the fun.”

Research conducted by FIFA showed that the 2018 World Cup was viewed by over 3.57 billion people, close to half of the global population. This shows how much the tournament speaks to the entire household regardless of ages. Additionally, statistics show us that this is sporting action enjoyed by everyone and it is for these reasons that we are excited to be your TV partner of choice.
Since Ghana will be playing at the World Cup, MultiChoice will be partnering with other sponsors to host Fan Parks in all sixteen regions and at those events one could win numerous prizes.

Mr. Okyere explained that for all fans who purchase a decoder during the period there was an upgrade offer in the offing so customers could see more games on the eight dedicated SuperSport channels. Furthermore, for the first time there would also be live commentary in Twi, Pidgin English and 6 other African languages.

Speaking at the launch event the Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Mustapha Ussif commended SuperSport and MultiChoice Ghana for their continued support for the sports sector and was confident this elaborate coverage would mean Ghanaians in any corner of the country can follow the exploits of our footballers whilst they strive to annex the trophy.

Present at the launch event were former Blackstars players like Sam Johnson, Fatwa Dauda, Prince Tagoe, John Painstil amongst others and retired Spanish international David Villa. The World Cup games will be broadcasted live on our SuperSport channels, on both GOtv and DStv.

This year’s tournament will attract over 32 countries and the tournament will run from November 21 to December 18 2022 in Qatar. Ghana’s first game will be against Portugal at 4pm on the 24th of November at Stadium 974 in Ras Abu Aboud, Doha, Qatar. Opened 30 November 2021, it is a temporary venue made from 974 recycled shipping containers that will host matches during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, after which it will be dismantled. It is the first temporary venue in FIFA World Cup history.
