Nollywood actress., Kate Henshaw has recently expressed her disdain for the concept of “African time,” describing it as both “disrespectful” and “rude.”

The renowned thespian did not mince words as she criticized those who habitually arrive late at work or events  and attribute their tardiness to the  cultural norm.

Kate, while highlighting the hypocrisy often associated with this excuse, pointed out that individuals who claim “African time” as a reason for their lateness are quick to be punctual when financial matters or important appointments, such as embassy visits, are involved. This, she argued, reveals that the issue is not cultural but rather a matter of respect and priorities.

“There is nothing like ‘African time.’ You are disrespectful and rude!! If it comes to money matters, you will be very early or you have an embassy appointment! Miss me with that attitude. I detest tardiness,” she wrote on X.

”African time” is a term often used to describe the habitual lateness associated with events and meetings in many African communities. Kate contends that this mindset undermines the value of time and shows a lack of respect for others.
