The top match from La Liga this weekend is the meeting of Sevilla and Barcelona from Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Friday night. The teams’ last meeting on October 2019 brought an impressive 4-0 home win for Barca – with Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal, Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi all netting.

However, Los Nervionenses will be determined to claim revenge on home soil and have shown great progress under former Spain manager Julen Lopetegui, as they push for a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League. Derailing Barcelona’s title hunt would be the perfect way to underline their status as one of La Liga’s top teams in 2019-20.

Fans of Ghanaian football can lok forward to seeing two of their best exports to La Liga on Saturday night when Atletico Madrid face Real Valladolid in the capital. Atleti will feature Thomas Partey, a midfielder who is highly sought-after in the transfer market right now, while the visitors boast up-and-coming defender Mohamed Salisu Abdul Karim, who has been a top performer through 2019-20.

Real Madrid will have their chance to reply to Barcelona’s result in the title race when they tackle Real Sociedad away from home on Sunday night. The clash at the wonderful San Sebastian stadium is set to be one for football purists  to enjoy: the Basque hosts play progressive, easy-on-the-eye football under coach Imanol Alguacil, while we all know the class and quality of Zinedine Zidane’s Los Blancos.

The weekend also sees Mallorca tackle Leganes in a relegation six-pointer, Samuel Chukwueze’s Villarreal will look to boost their European hopes by defeating Ramon Azeez’s Granada, and Espanyol must defeat Levante to keep alive relaistic hopes of avoiding a drop to the second tier of Spanish football.
