Fashion trends in Africa have always been slightly different from the rest of the world. In fact, all the fashion trends in the world get their inspiration from the local traditional clothing. Therefore, African fashion is a fusion of fashion styles inspired by European style and traditional African clothing. African clothing is all about vibrant colors and playful designs that’s why it has been one of the most favorite ones among the fashionistas.

After doing some research we have gathered some information about the latest ongoing fashion trends in Africa this season. Some of these fashion trends are as follows:

Natural fabrics are ‘In’:

Like always the traditional clothing fabrics like cotton, silk, flax, etc. are trending this season too. Moreover, synthetic fabrics are also in use for making fusion dresses with different textures and colors.

Trending colors:

Colors of lighter tones are trending this season. We recommend that you should opt for hues of pastel colors such as coffee, beige, white, off white, cream, etc. This season you can use bold and vibrant colors like red, yellow, orange, sky blue, green, etc. in a combination with lighter tones.

A-Line Ankara dresses:

This season the traditional Ankara dress is back with a tint of modernization.  The A-line dresses were a signature of the ’60s and now fashion designers are bringing them back with a bit of modernization. There is a huge variety of A-line Ankara dresses from which you can choose. You can either go for a line Ankara gowns or you can opt for short a line Ankara dresses. No matter whichever style you go for you will be able to transform into a romantic girl from the ’60s. Some of the women from the world’s most beautiful women list also liked this style.

Dashiki tops and jackets:

The evergreen dashiki style is again trending this season. You can wear Dashiki styled shirts and jackets on almost every occasion. These traditional African woven fabrics look good either you pair them with jeans, a skirt, or a pair of trousers. Moreover, they are quite comfortable to wear. Gele Style:

The traditional gele is trending this season. Fashion designers have again used it in their fashion shows after which you see them everywhere. This season we recommend that you should buy some bright and bold floral patterned geles made of silk or chiffon. You can assert these geles with any type of dress you’re wearing let it be western or traditional.

Aso Ebi styles:

The traditional Nigerian style of Aso Ebi is an inspiration from the Yoruba culture. This season fashion designers have again played with the traditional aso ebi style. And the result is a splendid collection of long modern age gowns and maxis. Aso ebis are the perfect choice for any wedding or traditional get together in Africa. Aso ebis are usually brightly colored dresses but if you don’t want too much color you can opt for a nude shade. No matter whatever shade you opt for don’t forget to pair it a gele. Usually, you wear monotoned geles on wedding functions.
