<![CDATA[Richie Benson finishes post production for his new single at Zoom Recording Studios and the genre-bending artist is back with a new banger in “Hangover” ready to propel him into a different stratosphere in the music industry. Coming after sleeper hit “Ghana” with garnered massive recognition from fans and DJs alike, and also making its way to Spotify’s biggest African playlist (African Heat) , the gxldenkeys produced ‘Hangover’ is only his fourth official single under his indie label Island Boy, since his first drop in July 2017. With a relatively small catalog of music, we have become accustomed to the quality over quantity approach of music Richie Benson delivers to his fans and Hangover should be no short of expectation. Although he is currently based out of Dallas Texas, the Nigerian born afropop star’s new track is heavily influenced by the rising subgenre of afrobeats currently popular in the UK and coined as ‘Afro-Swing’ where you can find similar sounds from artists like J Hus and Yxng Bane. Also never excluding some of his fellow Nigerian influences like Wande Coal, Wizkid and Davido, [the two of the latter whom he has also performed with when they toured in his city]. “Hangover” was originally supposed to be a diss track for one of the biggest Hip Hop acts out of Nigeria, after he and Richie fell out to an undisclosed predicament. But after Richie finished the record, he decided not to “waste” it on a mere diss track [even though it would have done some serious damage] and decided to put some major backing behind the record. He later posted a snippet on twitter and instagram for his fans and they went crazy for it, so he decided to drop the song as a lead single with a project to follow closely after.
