Stephanie has made Ghana proud by qualifying as one of ten finalists in the Beauty With a Purpose (BWP) segment. The Segment is one of several Fast Track events that precede the major announcement and crowing of the Miss World queen. The dynamics are such that, a finalist in any particular Fast Track event automatically stands a chance of winning the ultimate crown.

All eyes would be on Stephanie as she carries the weight of a nation on her shoulders. Together with other 112 queens, they would give the world yet another reason why the Miss World event is the world’s most prestigious pageant. Last year’s winner Alexandra Mills, who only got engaged recently, will crown her successor.

Meanwhile, preparations for the 61st edition of Miss World finale, which will take place at the Earls Court Two in London on Sunday evening, are at an advanced stage. The last time Ghana won the Beauty With A Purpose segment was in 2006, when Lamisi Mbillah stunned the judges with her work on combating Guinea Worm and also, iodine deficiency in Ghana.

The Beauty With A Purpose is at the heart of the Miss World organization. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been donated to local and international organizations in aid of disadvantaged children the world over. Last year’s winner Natasha Metto from Kenya helped to educate young people about the dangers of the jigger worm and then helped those worse affected by the epidemic the worm caused.
