The organizers of Miss West Africa Ghana, Wekumei Enterprise Limited  has announced that Ghana auditions will take place this weekend, Saturday March 19 at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra. Interested candidates between the ages of 18 and 27, size 6-14 and not shorter than 5.4, can show up and apply on the audition day from 10am -2pm.

According to the organizers of the contest, Miss West Africa is a beauty pageant with a unique difference.  The girl crowned Ghana’s national winner will represent the country against other winners from over fifteen West African Nations.  The pageant began in the UK and this year sees the inaugural West Africa final which will be hosted in Nigeria in December.

The Ghana auditions would be led by multi-award winning Radio Producer, Bernard P Achampong.  In the last eight years he has received 19 awards and recognitions for his work across the public and commercial radio in the UK (including BBC and Galaxy Radio).

Now a media entrepreneur, he was born in London, grew up in Accra before going back to complete his secondary school education.  He accompanies the Miss West Africa Ghana team on this trip as an observer as well as looking for opportunities to use his experience and resources.  Bernard’s last visit to Ghana was as a music industry specialist for the British Council and Tigo sponsored Ghana Music Seminar in 2008.
