<![CDATA[MultiChoice Ghana recently supported schools and 50 students in this year’s Community Spelling Bee, an initiative of Young Educators Foundation, a local NGO dedicated to children’s education in Ghana. The Community Bee event was held at the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Conference Hall and included students from Alsyd, La Bawaleshie, Airport Police, Universal Gospel Education Centre, Kanda Estate 5 Primary School, and Ghana Atomic Energy Commission Basic School. At the Community Bee, ten out of the fifty participating spellers qualified for the next stage which is the Accra Regional Spelling Bee Finals. Addressing the students, the Business Segment Manager of Multichoice Ghana, Mr. Kingsley Afful urged the students to take advantage of the competition to learn the correct use of English and improve their spelling and vocabulary.

I am speaking today not only as a representative from Multichoice Ghana, but also as a parent who is passionate about a command of the English language being a basis for a good education. The Spelling Bee will harness your ability to be good spellers, pronouncers and speakers and it will also spur a sense of competition in you, which is very healthy” he said.

At the event Mr. Afful in his speech said that Multichoice is supporting the Spelling Bee for the second year because of its commitment to education and also the nature of its product which serves a learning tool for students and adults. DStv has a host of channels for children such as Boomerang, Cartoon Netwek, CBeebies, Mindset Learn and the Disney channel.
