Northern Ghana Entertainment Awards to announce winners digitally due to COVID-19 outbreak

Celebraties Charity Development Foundation, organisers of the Northern Ghana Entertainment Awards (NEA) has announced the possibility of going digital on their social media pages if the COVID-19 Pandemic is not contained by April 11, 2020.

Organisers in a statement signed by Director of Communications for the Awards, Mr. Abubakari Sadiq Righteous said this year’s awards has been postponed to 11th April, 2020 following the President’s ban on social gathering.

See below the full statement;

It is with no choice that the organisers of the most prestigious Northern Ghana Entertainment Awards (NEA) officially announce the postponement of this year’s awards scheduled for 27th March, 2020. This year’s NEA has been postponed to *Saturday 11th April, 2020* following the COVID-19 global pandemic and government’s ban on public gathering not exceeding 25 people.
It is our prayer that by 11th April, the COVID-19 spread would have been contained for government to lift the ban on public gathering.

However, if in the unfortunate situation by Saturday 11th April, the COVID-19 spread is not contained, organisers have no choice than to resort to social media *(Live telecast on our digital platforms) to announce the winners of the Awards for our all cherish nominees, stakeholders and general public to watch from the comfort of their homes. In view of this postponement, the *deadline for the public voting has also been extended to *Thursday 9th April 2020*.

We sincerely apologize to all nominees, stakeholders and entertainers across Northern Ghana for any inconvenience caused by this decision. We would like to also use this opportunity to remind the general public to follow the preventive measures issued by the WHO, Ghana Health Service, and to comply with Government’s directives.
