Papi 5five and Appietus get heated on live TV over music royalties

Music Producer, Appietus and Papi of hiplife group, 5Five, have traded insults on live TV over their 2011 hit song, ‘Muje Baya’.

Over the last few days, the two have been going back and forth over the song, and the latest is a full-blown fight on TV.

Appietus’ had shared in an interview on that was never paid for producing ‘Muje Baya’, a claim that did not sit well with Papi who has since responded on CTV on Tuesday, January 17.

According to Papi, Appietus benefitted from the song, which they paid him for. He also claimed that Appietus made extra revenue from the song through streaming platforms, and has blindsided them since 2013.

Papi explains that he and his distributor chanced on the irregularity in 2022 and when he confronted Appietus about the situation, he (Appietus) suggested that they “look for the person” behind it.

“When I sent the screenshots to Appietus, he said really, we have to look for the person,” Papi stated.

Papi adds that further checks on the situation revealed that revenue generated from 5 of their songs were were going to the accounts of a company called Creative Studios, apparently owned by Appietus.

“So I sent it back to Appietus and told him that ‘Creative Studios is your own studio… he was acting naive about the whole situation. Meanwhile he knew he was spending the money. He was on TV saying that he kept receiving anonymous money via notifications on his phone and kept on spending it… As grown as you are, how do you spend money you know does not belong to you,”  Papi quizzed.

Appietus responded to Papi’s claims stating that had it not being for the money he received from the streaming platforms, he would not have gotten a dime from producing their songs.

“If I wasn’t smart to put the songs online, you and Bulldog would have used me for nothing. You never paid me because you and Bullgod had made up your mind to never pay me,” Appietus shared.

Appietus added that he thinks this back and forth on the situation is a stunt to promote their new song adding that “they have used the song to their benefit and they did not pay for the master copy.”

Papi also took the opportunity to apologize to the group’s former manager, Bullgod, for previously accusing him of being the one responsible for the siphoning of funds from the group’s music.

“Bro I am using this platform to say I am sorry, forgive me. I am being honest, from my heart,” Papi apologised.

Meanwhile, Bullgod has threatened to take Appietus to court for  benefitting off his investments, and living comfortably for ten years feeding his family from his (Bulldog) projects.

“You will pay for every dollar you collected off my investments and you will pay with interest. You have been feeding your family and yourself with our investments for almost 10 years by selling 5Five songs — executive produced and promoted by Bullhaus Entertainment on digital platforms globally without our permission. Get ready – Time to pay up. You will hear from our counsellors,” Bulldog shared on Facebook.
