<![CDATA[The Aiteo CAF Awards was held at the Accra International Conference Centre with the hugely tipped Mohammed Salah picking up the coveted African Player of the Year nod. It was a night of music meets football, and it appears that although most Ghanaians were not expecting to win any awards on the night for football, they were looking forward to seeing Ghanaian musicians rock the stage. The show opened with Efya singing Ghana’s national anthem and from there on, one after the other, it became a night of Nigerian music interspersed with some francophone delight in the form of Toofan, Fally Ipupa etc. The Nigerian ensemble included Patoranking, Olamide, Phyno, Flavour, Tiwa Savage and Wizkid, each of whom performed at least 2 songs. It appears that even the dancers on the night were all shipped in from Nigeria, as Nigerian dancer, choreographer, dance instructor and fitness coach, Kaffy was in control of most of the dance routines on the night. The show closed with the only other Ghanaian act, Kidi. He performed after the award presentation was over, and according to those who watched at home, his performance wasn’t even televised. This has left many Ghanaians peeved on social media, with people asking what went wrong, and even blaming others. So what do you think of the issue? Should there have been more Ghanaian performances since the ceremony was hosted in Ghana? ]]>
