“LittleBigSouls, UK,US,AFRICA ” a charitable foundation has donated items to over 50 mothers of the neonatal intensive care unit at the La General Hospital and Ridge Hospital as part of  the first International Prematurity Awareness Day in Africa. Ghana-based Jamaican singer, Prince Mydas, a celebrity ambassador for the foundation joined the team to make the donations.

The group donated items such as t shirts, packs of beverages and boxes of bottled water and a lot more to the named Hospitals. The donation was part of efforts to support less privileged women and reduce death and disability of pre term babies. According to the Doctor in charge of the unit at La General Hospital Dr. Ameh, the move by the organization was timely as most of the mothers are from poor homes and usually rely on health officials of the hospital for support. She thanked the group and urged them on.

The group in an interaction with some of the nurses at Ridge Hospital NICU discovered the rate at which some mothers abandoned pre term babies, but were helpful that their support would encourage visitation from such mothers.

The LittleBigSouls foundation which is currently working in England, Nigeria and Ghana is committed to the health of babies.  The first International Prematurity Awareness Day in Africa/ Ghana was successfully marked through donations to the hospitals, distribution of posters, fliers and hand outs to the public. The group however encourages corporate organizations and the general public to come on board.

The Co-Founder Edith Uyovbukerhi commended the staff of the NICU centers’ in the various hospitals for their dedication and encouraged them in their work.
