<![CDATA[Veteran reality TV star, KJ formerly known as Kojo has debuted a classic highlife tune. After gathering a lot of experience on three prestigious platforms, namely the Stars of the Future, Project Fame West Africa and the MTN Hitmakers show, the talented and born-performer has finally dropped his first single.
The song titled, ‘With You’ is a highlife tune which was engineered by Josiah Morgan of J. Morg studios. ‘With You’ is a blend of English and Ga lyrics with a touch of KJ’s silky voice and rich saxophone accompaniment. It is gradually warming up into the hearts of many and it is already being branded as the ‘wedding song of the moment’.
As natural as he sounds, KJ does live band performances and he’s backed by his own 4-member standing band known as ‘The Acoustic’ band. He usually plays at Starbite at East Legon on weekends.
Known in real life as Kojo Osew, KJ comes from a family of 10. Every individual in the family is musically inclined. He has a brother and 6 sisters. His brother is a guitarist, keyboardist and a songwriter while all his sisters and parents sing. The young talent’s music career was inspired by his mother and elder brother who first spotted his talent at an early age and gave him the encouragement to pursue to the fullest. Apart from being an excellent songwriter with an exceptionally unique voice, Kj’s other love are the drums.
“I love the drums”, he said, “and I feel I’m in another world when I combine my singing with playing the drums. Even though I do different kinds of music, like Soul, R&B, I generally describe my music as inspirational no matter the category because I am inspired to write and hope that listeners find my music uplifting when they hear it. My long-term objective is to always make music which inspires people positively throughout the world and that is when I know I will have been a successful musician,” comments KJ.
Although KJ may initially be compared to a singer like Aaron Neville in terms of tonality, he’s unique coupled with an un-matched passion for what he does. KJ has featured on the works of several top artists. He was on Becca’s ‘Daa Ke Da’ reggae rendition; Ohemaa Mercy’s ‘You Are the Reason’; and Nigerian singers, Ibo boy-illbliss and Sopriyie’s tracks. He has also performed on stage with Ofie Kodjoe, Steve Bedi, Freeman Ame, Trigmatic, Prince Midas, Kwame Yeboah and the Ohia B3y3 Ya Band among others.
