"I stopped going to church in 1997, I don’t want to be a hypocrite" -Rex Omar

Ghanaian Highlife musician Rex Omar has voiced his support for former President John Mahama’s 24-hour economy initiative, lauding its structured approach compared to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Free Senior High School policy.

The “Abiba” singer clarified that the 24-hour concept aims for gradual changes, stating, “When we say we’re going to initiate a 24-hour economy, it doesn’t mean everything will change overnight suddenly.”

In a pointed comparison to the swift implementation of Free SHS, Omar expressed his belief in the meticulous handling of the 24-hour policy. He emphasized, “I don’t think this idea will be wholesale like Free SHS, so people will sit down, and there’s a committee that has been put in place to deal with this issue.” Rex Omar underscores the importance of the idea, confident that addressing it step by step will maximize its benefits for the country.
