The founder and CEO of GUBA Enterprise, Mrs Dentaa Amoateng MBE, on the 10thof February 2019, joined a plethora of top speakers at the Warwick Africa Summit (WAS), at the University of Warwick in Coventry, England.

The summit, an annual student-led and student- driven conference aimed at bringing Africa into focus and stimulating conversations about its future. It also celebrated the continent’s economic growth and prospects. 

Under the theme “We face forward-Daima Mbele”, an adaptation of the famous pan-African quote, “forward ever, backward never”, by Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the two- day event brought together speakers ranging from politicians, bankers, entrepreneurs, activists, and philanthropists who have dedicated their lives to unlocking the Continent’s true potential.

Dentaa Amoateng MBE led an insightful panel discussion on Media, innovation and creative arts. The panel included: Chief Dele Momodu, CEO of Ovation Media Group; Mr. Hamid Ibrahim, Co-founder of Kugali Media and Ms. Shirley J. Thompson, Conductor, Composer, Violinist and Head of Composition at the University of Westminster. 

Also in attendance for the summit was the 2ndLady of the Republic of Ghana, Hajia Samira Bawumia who delivered a keynote address which focused on her work with and commitment to her not-for-profit organisation, the Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Projects (SEHP), as well as the role of the African youth in the pursuit of Africa’s development and growth. She stated that “Governments must lead the way by harnessing the potentials of our young people, for a prosperous Africa”.

Other notable speakers present at the summit included: Bowo Odunsi, Musician; David Elikwu, Lawyer and Founder of Baba’s Fight Club; Christel Kayibi, Business Manager at Columbia Records; Eniafe Momodu, Founder of Eniafe Momodu, among others.
