According to him, tourism means business and so the selected ambassadors should start thinking in that regard. In an interview on Showbiz now on Joy Prime, Mr. Asiedu mentioned that no impact was been felt from the tourism ambassadors because they have failed to strike juicy business deals that will transform the industry particularly infrastructure. He said:  “What’s the objective of putting together that team of ambassadors? What were the key performance indicators that we sitting back will use to judge them? I would have picked businessmen like Kwame Despite, Sikkens or Wiyaala who is now all over the world – people who can give us the returns that we need”. He also  noted that celebrities, who are business-minded are those that are needed for this cause: “For me when I am talking tourism, I am talking business because the fun part will come when the business is done”. He however went on to answer in the negative when asked if the appointment of the ambassadors was useless. He added that the government should have asked the appointed ambassadors to present individual projects for consideration, that way, the ministry could tailor projects to suit each ambassador. The Ghana Tourism Authority, under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in 2017, appointed 30 Ghanaian celebrities as ambassadors for the “See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, Feel Ghana” campaign. The aim of the campaign was to re-orient Ghanaians on their cultural and national heritage, as well as promote tourism. The selected ambassadors included, SP Kofi Sarpong, D-Black, Nana Kwame Ampadu, Okyeame Kwame, Fancy Gadam, Agya Koo, Lucky Mensah ,PaJohn Dadson, Reggie N Bollie, Wiyaala, Sam Okyere, Dada KD, Sherifa Gunu, Diana Asamoah, Cindy Thompson, Andy Dosty, amongst others.]]>
