<![CDATA[Nima, the biggest Muslim community in the country hosted a massive party which was dubbed “Sallah Fest 2012” on Sunday, 19th August 2012. The event ran from the early hours of the morning of Sallah till the morning of the day after; taking over the Nima highway from the Nima overhead to Accra Girls High School. VIP partnered, EXP Ghana to introduce an array of activities to give people in the Nima/Mamoobi communities a good time. The morning of Sallah offered a spectacular sight of thousands of Muslims lined up on their mats on the Nima highway to offer prayers to Allah before breaking into the celebration. The celebration started with the longest feast table in Ghana measuring about 600 metres and feeding an estimated 10,000 people in the Nima/Maamobi/Newtown communities. The feeding was closely followed by the Muslim traditional way of celebrating the Sallah, which included rhythmic traditional drumming and dancing and the chiefs of Nima riding horses in a-must-see unique fashion. The day was crowned with a free-to-all massive concert in the night hosted by VIP, a three-man musical group whose talents were uncovered out of the Nima community more than 1oyears ago. VIP invited their colleague musicians including Sarkodie, Tinny, 4×4 and Efya, just to name a few to give back to the community in the form of music and entertainment to mark the Eid al-Fitr holiday and end of the Muslim fast. The event was organised by EXP Ghana Limited, VIP & Chapter O and supported by Frytol from Wilmar Africa Limited, Coca-Cola, Indomie, Nokia, RiceMasters from CCTC, and Challenger Condom]]>
