<![CDATA[Cameroon born and South Africa-based musician and TV personality, Wax Dey has earned top nominations in the upcoming Cameroon Entertainment Awards, which also sees Ghanaian actors John Dumelo and Majid Michel gaining nominations. Now known to be one of the biggest events ever to celebrate Cameroon’s entertainment industry, the Cameroon Entertainment Awards will take place at the Cramtom Auditorium on the Washington DC campus of the Howard University on July 28. Wax aka Nde Ndifonka is up for Best Male Artist and Best RnB/Pop. His sensational duet, ‘I Don See My Wife’ with Nigerian Dontom also received a nod for Best International Collaboration.Speaking about the nominations Wax Dey said: “It feels really good to get such recognition only a couple of years after I took up music fulltime. I’ve been doing a lot of things career-wise, and even when it came to music, I’ve always been behind the scenes. Right now, I’m on the urban music scene, and I feel like I am where I should be, doing what I should be doing.” Wax was known as a writer and counter-trafficking expert, before pursuing a career in music. His first published book “The Chosen One” was used for Grade 11 English in South African public schools. He has however, remained active in the humanitarian circle, undertaking projects such as a music therapy programme for children in South Africa (with Save the Children UK) and a counter-xenophobia music campaign known as My Brother’s Keeper, run with Kalawa Jazzmee Records and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). He recently joined the Good Morning Africa show on DSTV’s channel 114 as a presenter. Wax Dey performs live on Wednesday 28 March at Shikisha in Newtown as from 7pm, and on Friday 30 March at Rapture Jazz Club in Hatfield Pretoria. Voting is open for the Cameroon Entertainment Awards and closes on July 7.]]>
