Popular YouTube channels SSSniperWolf, JrEG, and Cocomelon all have one thing in common: they gained greater success through rebranding. With each creator gaining an incredible number of subscribers in the past year, these have become some of the most successful YouTube channels in 2021.

Each of these creators took a risk by shifting focus from their previous videos to something new. They all have something unique tied to their success in rebranding their channel.

When American YouTuber SSSniperWolf first started her channel, she focused on creating Call of Duty and Black Ops videos. She saw some success in gaining a following, becoming recognized as one of the biggest female gamers. Since then, she evolved to focus more on reactions and TikTok videos, occasionally focusing on gaming and challenges. The immense success of TikTok drove her reaction videos to the Trending Page on YouTube, gaining her tons of subscribers.

It’s worth looking into popular trends across YouTube to see what content is on the rise at the time. With her shift to TikTok and reaction videos, SSSniperWolf solidified her success as a content creator.

JrEG: Don’t Be Afraid to Experiment A Little

JrEG YouTube

American YouTuber JrEG first created his channel in 2009 under the name lavacrava. He focused mostly on random skits and music, garnering little traction until his first rebranding in 2019. The release of one of his videos, titled “Political Compass Rap,” marked his rebranding music and skits to political satire. From this point, he created videos that made up his first web series, Centricide. Following this, he rebranded once more as JrEG, making videos that focus on satire about psychology as well as political satire.

The biggest takeaway from JrEG is to not be afraid to experiment with how you rebrand yourself. JrEG wasn’t discouraged from changing up his content many times. He even deemed his old content as the first “JrEra.”

Cocomelon: Don’t Give Up If It Doesn’t Work At First

Cocomelon YouTube

Few channels personify the importance of rebranding more than Cocomelon. The insanely successful YouTube channel first started off under the name “That’sMEonTV” in 2006, where they focused on educational videos about the alphabet. The channel updated videos at a sporadic pace before their first rebranding in 2013. Now named “ABCkidTV,” the channel began to focus on nursery rhymes and children’s songs. The channel also switched from 2D animations to 3D animations. The final rebranding as Cocomelon clicked well with viewers, as the channel began growing at a high rate in 2018. As of 2021, the channel is one of the fastest-growing channels with over 100 million subscribers.

When rebranding, don’t feel let down if you don’t see success right away. For Cocomelon, it was a while before it established itself as a top YouTube channel.
