Why not Ghana? – Stonebwoy laments Ghana’s inability to become founding member of Grammys Africa

Celebrated Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall artist, Stonebwoy has recently expressed disappointment in Ghana’s failure to secure a deal to join the Grammys Africa initiative as a founding member.

He emphasized the significant benefits and economic opportunities that Ghana would gain by being part of this crucial initiative for the growth of the creative industry.

Stonebwoy, who was named Artiste of the Year at the recently held 25th TGMA, took to Twitter to question why Ghana had not yet become a founding member and thanked Dentaa Amoateng and others for their support in creating this opportunity for Ghana.

The ‘Therapy’ hitmaker raised concerns about Ghana’s inability to raise the necessary funds to seal the service agreement and join the initiative, especially when other countries like Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Africa have already done so.

Stonebwoy urged the Ghanaian government to explore all options, including seeking assistance from the private sector, to raise the required funds and emphasized the importance of Ghana’s participation in this initiative.

”The Grammys Expansion into africa is simply like the Grammys expansion into the Latin world therefore the Latin Grammys. These Schemes namely Grammys , BETS, GMAs,MVAs etc are institutions that will forever control vital narratives concerning music , arts and entertainment Globally. Aligning with them has great benefits and economic potentials for the Growth and expansion of Ghanas creative industry.. Thanks to

amongst others for playing pivotal roles to make sure Ghana is not left out. But as it stands we are closing in on being left out to become another mockery case.

”The Governments of Nigeria Rwanda  South Africa have all Paid and sealed their service agreements to become founding members.. The big question is 1. WHY NOT GHANA??? 2. CAN GOV’T NOT RAISE THE MONEY??? 3. CAN GOV’T ASK PRIVATE SEC TO HELP RAISE THE MONEY?? 4. IS IT NOT IMPORTANT BE A PART OF THIS?” he wrote.
