CARING VOLUNTEERS NETWORK (CAVNET), INC INCORPORATES AS A 501 ( C ) (3) IN THE US
Caring Volunteers Network (CAVNET), INC, a Ghanaian based Non-Governmental Organization has received approval as a tax-exempt organization under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) section 501 ( c ) (3) of the United States.
The organization is headquartered in Buckeye, Arizona. The parent organization has been in operation in Ghana since 2015 and was registered in 2016 with the Department of Social Welfare.
This approval will allow our donors to deduct contributions they make to the organization under IRC Section 170. Being classified as a public charity, Caring Volunteers Network (CAVNET), INC is qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522.
The specific purpose of the organization is to help uplift and empower people in rural areas in especially low-income and food deficient communities in Ghana. Through a people-centered approach, the organization facilitates the initiation of sustainable community development projects aimed at assisting indigenes to improve their livelihoods and wellbeing through advocacy, food security, health, and educational initiatives.
Caring Volunteers Network received a grant in 2021 from the Global Affairs Canada through the Modernizing Agriculture in Ghana (MAG) to support a group of 100 women that are engaged in groundnut processing. The funding was used to invest in the necessary equipment to add value to their products and to strengthen the capacity of the group, thereby making their products more competitive and attractive for the local and foreign markets. The support has impacted the lives of these women as they are now independent women having a sustainable groundnut processing business to support their families.
The organization has been working with partners in West Africa to advance gender equality, promote women’s empowerment and implement the cross-border elimination of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in girls in the Upper West and Northern Regions. It is an advocacy project geared towards promoting women’s voices in the community and ending violence against women and young girls.
The organization also works with both local and international volunteers to create sustainable impact in the lives of people in deprived communities through library book donations, ICT trainings in primary schools and supporting graduates with volunteer opportunities and internships in Ghana.
