Miss Ghana 2012 selects 6 from middle-belt as auditions move to Accra, July 24!

CM1 8231 horzAuditions for the 2012 edition of the Miss Ghana beauty pageant continue to post impressive results. Over the weekend, in the Garden City of Kumasi where auditions were held for contestants in the Middle Belt, the judging panel which included Actress Nana Ama Mc Brown, hiplife act ASEM, professional photographer Barrak El- Mahmoud, Inna Mariam Patty of Exclusive Events Ghana and Xavier Hubert, General Manager of Golden Tulip Hotel Kumasi, had a tough time in choosing who had made it to the national finals. After a long wait on the third and final day of an audition process that had already seen the contestants work on speech presentation, sales and marketing activation, and a special photo shoot session, the judges eventually decided on the lucky six, who will represent the Ashanti, Eastern and Brong Ahafo Regions respectively. CM1 8321 horzOut of the lot who auditioned, it was Ohemaa Akosua Agyemang-Badu, a 18 year-old graduate of the Holy Child Senior High School, Precious Kyei Bonsu, 21, of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Sabina Aryee, a 24 year-old student of the University of Ghana, Stephanie Nana Yaa Appiah of Conquerors Pre-University, Emelia Ainoooson, 20, of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, and Ayisha Hussein Baba Yara, a 23 year-old intern at the Center for National Culture, Kumasi, who made it to the national finals in Accra. The Ashanti Region is represented at this year’s finals by Emelia and Precious, while Ohema and Sabina represent the Eastern Region. The Brong Ahafo Region makes an appearance at this year’s finals courtesy Stephanie and Ayisha. The Kumasi auditions come on the heels of a successful and similar exercise held last week in Tamale, where the first six of twenty finalists were chosen. The organizers have announced that the third and final auditions for the selection of contestants for this year’s event will take place tomorrow July 24, at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra. Some eight, lucky contestants will be chosen and added to the initial twelve selected from the Northern and Middle belts to make up the final list of 20. This year’s finals take place in September. It is being held under the theme “Evolution of Beauty”. Davido To Headline Second Annual Tribeville Featuring Wande Coal, Young John & More

Tribeville returns to The Lawn at White Oak Music Hall in Houston, Texas on Friday, July 5 for its second annual edition. Headlined by Afrobeats king Davido, the music festival from acclaimed event promoter and production company Duke Concept is a celebration of Black music from around the world united under one tribe.

In addition to Davido’s headlining performance, Tribeville will host fellow Nigerian acts Wande Coal and Young John, Grenadian singer V’ghn, Trinidadian soca artist Preedy, Nigerian singer-songwriter Chike, Afrorap act Bils, Alté group The Compozers, and South African rapper Focalistic, along with DJ sets by Skyla Tylaa, Babygirl The DJ, DJ Mobu, DJ Obi & DJ Big N, and many more.

Tribeville launched its inaugural edition in April 2023 with a lineup featuring Adekunle Gold, Oxlade, Victony, Libianca, and more. Returning this year, Tribeville follows Duke Concept’s first-ever all-Ghanaian music festival Rolling Cocoa in Washington, D.C. and Davido’s monumental headline stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Tribeville will continue Duke Concept’s mission to bring the vibrant flavors of Africa and the Caribbean to stages across the U.S. and beyond.

Burna Boy Breaks Several Milestones on Apple Music

The highly anticipated concert by Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy, slated for June 9th at the Johan Cruyff Arena Stadium in the Netherlands, has been called off.

Burna Boy personally relayed the disappointing news via his Instagram account, citing the event organizers’ failure to uphold their part of the agreement as the reason behind the cancellation.

Expressing his regret over the situation, Burna Boy assured fans that ticket holders would receive full refunds directly from their original point of purchase within the next 30 days.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, May, 2, 2024 the ‘On the low’ hitmaker emphasized the importance of fulfilling contractual obligations and thanked his fans for their support, signing off with a message of love and anticipation for future gatherings.

“We regret to inform you that due to a failure by the event organisers to meet their contracted obligations, Burna Boy’s concert at the stadium on June 9th 2024 has been cancelled.
