Famed Ghanaian Hiplife artist and entreprenuer, Belinda Ekuah Amoah, known in showbiz as Mzbel, has shed light on the inspiration behind her hit song, ’16 years’.

Speaking in a recent interview on 3Music’s Big Conversation, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ‘Mzbel Music’ revealed that, the song was born out of conversations centered around the harrowing issues of rape and the vulnerability of the girl child.

According to her, she monitored the behaviours of the young girls she use to stay in James town with as well as listening to Maame Dokono speaking on radio about rape and then came up with a song. Mzbel disclosed that she wrote the lyrics of the song  while she was in a taxi listening to one of Maame Dokono’s conversations about rape.

She continued, ”So I started writing in the taxi and when I got home, I built on it and that was it”
