Today, fans are once again being treated to two long-sought Juice WRLD gems: minimal, melodic “Both Ways” and the darkly booming “Cavalier.” The songs continue an ongoing series, arriving as The Pre-Party (Extended) EP — listen HERE via Grade A and Interscope Records. Additionally, “Both Ways”comes with a video starring and co-directed by Juice friend and collaborator Trippie Redd along withDotComNirvan. Watch HERE.

Blessed with a beat from Juice’s right-hand producer Nick Mira alongside Pharaoh Vice (iann dior, The Kid LAROI, Lil Peep), “Both Ways” is low-slung with a subtly infectious groove. Juice is in his zone, casually shifting rhythms and catching melodies, feeling himself and issuing warnings: “If you’re crossing my streets, better look both ways.”

“Cavalier” is special in a different way — fans can still find footage online of Juice recording the song during a 2019 Instagram Live session. Produced by another familiar face, 808 Mafia member Purps (Migos, Chief Keef), with Ian Francis, the track serves up a shadowy mix of moody guitar, skittering drums, and wild adlibs. Juice slays the verse: “They gon’ make me blow my fuse / Got these hatin’ ass b****** and n***** confused / I beat up the rap game, and I give it a bruise / Give ’em black and blues, while I count up the blues.”

The Pre-Party (Extended), of course, follows The Pre-Party, which was released at 9am on September 9 — “999,” a cherished number among Juice’s fandom that symbolizes the concept of flipping a bad situation into a positive one. That two-pack included another pair of highly anticipated posthumous tracks, “World Tour (Aquafina)” and “Lightyears” featuring Young Thug. (Listen HERE.) Before that came December’s “Lace It”featuring Eminem and produced by benny blanco, which confronted the highs and lows of drug use — listen HERE.

About Juice WRLD

Juice WRLD born as Jarad Higgins in 1998, grew up in Calumet Park playing piano, drums, and guitar, turning to rap freestyling in high school. Influenced by rock music and Chicago drill from Lil Durk and Chief Keef, Higgins initially began recording as Juice TheKidd, a moniker derived from his haircut, which resembled 2Pac’s in the film Juice. Juice WRLD became a Top Ten hitmaker delivering introspective lyrics atop melodic production, with echoes of Travis Scott and Post Malone. His heartsick 2018 debut Goodbye & Good Riddance (2018) which peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200, home to his biggest hit “Lucid Dreams,” reflected a wide range of stylistic influences: R&B instrumentation, dreamy beats, and even indie rock melodicism. The momentum built by “Lucid Dreams” which is currently 11x RIAA certified platinum, helped land Juice’s sophomore effort, 2019’s A Death Race for Love, which topped the Billboard 200 and was soon RIAA certified gold. Months later, at the height of his mainstream popularity, he tragically passed away after having just turned 21. At the time of his death, Juice had three singles in the Hot 100 and both official LPs in the Top 100. His posthumously released album Never Die in 2020 crowned the Billboard 200 and was followed by Fighting Demons in 2021. His verses have been on collaboration records with the likes of Ellie Goulding, Benny Blanco, BTS, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Halsey, Justin Bieber, Brent Faiyaz, Eminem, Marshmello and more. To date he’s been part of over 80 RIAA certified gold and platinum records.
