One of Ghana’s most loved actors, Kofi Adu alias Agya Koo after winning the Ghana Movie Awards nod for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Local Language) at the main ceremony last Saturday, has been adjudged the Overall Best Actor for 2010 at the industry awards ceremony held at the Golden Tulip on Sunday evening.

The famous actor beat his competitor, Majid Michel who won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (English Language), to take home a brand new Zoyte SUV.  The car for the overall best actress was jointly won by Jackie Appiah, Juliet Ibrahim, Yvonne Okoro and Roselyn Ngissah  for their roles in the movie, ‘4Play’. The ladies beat their completion from the local front, Rose Mensah alias Kyeiwaa. The winners were chosen by the Ghana Movie Awards Jury, Planning/ Organizing Committee and Founder.

Other special awards handed out at the industry awards ceremony included Producer of the Year – Venus Films, Best Marketer of the Year, Best Distributor of the Year, Special Veteran Awards for George Williams and Grace Nortey, and a special ‘Star of Stars’ award to footballer Stephen Appiah.

There were also special trophies and mentions for the sponsors of the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards including Feiya Engineering Ghana Ltd, Goldent Tulip, Don Emilio Wines, and Deloitte and Touché.
