The King of South African radio, AKA, has been selected by BBC 1Xtra for their FOR 2016 annual list! The formidable list predicts the most interesting cross over artist to emerge on the Global music scene. AKA is the only African on the list.
Artists features on the list in the last few years have gone on to do big things like Sam Smth (2014) The Weekend (2013), Frank Ocean (2012) and Drake (2010). AKA is not only the most played artist on SA radio, but he crossed over to the UK where the likes of ‘All Eyes On Me’ and ‘Baddest’ have made the official playlist on various international radio stations.
The Cape Town-born, Joburg-based rapper looks set to secure yet another stellar 12 months not just in the eyes of his fans on the continent but an inevitable legion of supporters worldwide.
The Supa Mega isn’t showing any signs of slowing down for anything this year. In fact, in what is predicted to be the biggest year of his career thus far, and the beginning of world stage domination, AKA will still be releasing hit after hit. With no album out, and just one single released in the past year, AKA has done did it again with nods for the Metro FM Awards.
The Baddest hit-maker has been nominated in the categories Best Collaboration and Best Hit Single for Baddest.
The remix version of the song, which features an all female hip hop cast also made the nod in the category Best Remix.
