Akon Announces Konvict Kulture’s Next Release “Konvict Kulture Presents Teemanay”

Today, global superstar AKON announces Konvict Kulture Presents Teemanay, the forthcoming release of his 4-track joint musical project with Teemanay, the flagship artist signed to his Konvict Kulture label.

“I am excited about this project and I look forward to seeing the world finally catch up and appreciate my sound. I am specially grateful to my big bro AKON for believing in me and for joining forces with me on this masterpiece. Let the vibe lead!”, Teemanay shared.

The lead single is “Go Girl”, produced by Spellz. It debuted at Burna Boy’s concert in Detroit, Michigan, at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre on July 21, where Teemanay performed it live to a sold-out crowd (6,000 capacity). Two days later, Teemanay performed it again during his headlining set at AKON’s Jollof, Music & Food Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, this past weekend (Saturday, July 23).

The 4-track EP feature AKON on 3 records “Selfish” (Spellz), “Killin Me” (Jaylon) and “Go Girl” (Spellz); the last record finds the Nigerian artist singing over a self-produced acoustic with guitar played by Ligero.

Since AKON posted a recap video of the festival to his Instagram page, fans have asked for the title of the catchy record every few seconds.

The full project—Konvict Kulture Presents Teemanay—will become available on all streaming platforms on Friday, August 5. It was mixed and mastered by Konvict Kulture’s in-house producer Matt Weiss and executive produced by AKON.

The Delta State, Nigeria-native rising star has travelled the world (Lagos, Johannesburg and New York City) to find himself as an artist with what he describes as “vocal dexterity”. Regarding self-reflection, Teemanay views himself as someone who makes “Afro-Switch” music, “a modern Afrobeat genre with an influence of Urban RnB and Caribbean sound.” Before now, Teemanay released a debut EP called ‘Timeless’, and his single ‘Kill Dem’ has earned over two million streams. He has also headlined an Afrobeats festival at the Schomburg Center of Museum of Arts in 2018 and 2019.
